Launch GIS Map

First Colony Community Association’s (FCCA) Geographic Information System (GIS) is now available to all members online.  The interactive, computerized mapping program contains an incredible amount of easily accessible information about the community.  The basic features of the GIS website include a map of all First Colony streets, property lines, and addresses, which are displayed over a satellite image of the community.  The map also contains the location of most community assets maintained by FCCA.  Users can easily locate their closest neighborhood pool and playground, or quickly determine which street light is out in front of their house.  Other features like the address finder can also help members easily navigate around First Colony.  The following list contains all of the FCCA maintained assets that can currently be found on the GIS website:

·        Swimming pools
·        Parks & playgrounds
·        Volleyball courts & tennis courts
·        Ornamental streetlights
·        Neighborhood entrance monuments
·        Landscape reserves
·        Lakes
·        FCCA-maintained fencing

Not only does the GIS website provide more accessible information to all FCCA members, but it also promotes more convenient communication between FCCA members and staff.  Members can now submit repair request through the internet directly to the Association’s maintenance staff.  For instance, if the landscape lights at a neighborhood entrance are not working, simply click on the broken feature and a menu will instantly direct the user to create a work order.  Furthermore, the website will highlight repair items that have already been reported by other members or staff.  When applicable, the website will also provide important information on the status of a repair if delays are expected.

Work on the GIS website began over three years ago in the FCCA office.  During that time the staff has recorded the locations and identified the unique characteristics for thousands of Association maintained assets.  The website and data it contains are very dynamic and will continually change throughout the coming years.  Over the next few months, information on a wider variety of community assets will be posted.  As the GIS website attracts more users, new options and features may also be added to make usage even more convenient.  If you have questions or comments about the new GIS website, please contact Phil Martin, Operations Supervisor, at 281-634-9503 or email at .
